Welcome to the St. Andrew's Church in the Strand website. If this is your first visit with us, we are pleased to welcome you. However if you have been visiting the website for some time and would like to join the Parish, please fill in the attached Data Form and hand it to one of the Sidespersons on duty on a Sunday or to one of our Church Wardens. We hope that you have enjoyed your visit, and to those joining that you will have a blessed and fruitful experience worshipping with us.
Parish Council & Church Wardens normally meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month and are elected at the Annual Vestry Meeting on the 2nd Sunday of March. Each Parish Councillor and Church Warden is responsible for a particular area of Ministry in relation to canon 28 & 29 of the Canons & Constitution of Anglican Church of Southern Africa.
Lay Ministers normally meet once a quarter and are responsible for the leading of services, prayers and prayer ministry. Some of our Lay Ministers are also involved in the visitation to the Sick and taking Holy Communion to the Sick and housebound.
Please join us for tea and eats provided after every Sunday Service. New members will also be invited to an annual Welcoming Dinner during the month of June to meet with the Parish leadership and leaders of the different Parish Ministries.
The Choir meets on Wednesdays and is responsible for leading the music in Church. The music ranges from tra ditional, contemplative and contemporary music. Psalms and Anthems are sung at special Festivals or Feasts.

Our Women's Ministry meets informally for Fellowship and Prayer. Most of these meetings take place in the Parish Hall but occasionally meet at the homes of some Parishioners.

Altar Servers meet once per quarter and also assist on Sundays with the preparation for Eucharistic Services and during Services.

Special services are arranged during Lent which in cludes Ash Wednesday, Holy Week,
Maundy Thurs day, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. Our Annual Carol Services with Nine Lessons normally takes place on the second Sunday in December during the Season of
Advent. Any other special services are normally announced during Services.
Sacristans / Tea Assistants / Sides persons / Soup Kitchen Helpers
Some members of our congregation assist with these different support ministries and would do duty as per a duty roster. If you would like to assist or join any of the other mentioned ministries, please speak to one of the Clergy or the Church wardens.
Reading in Church
With the exception of the Gospel Reading & Psalm, parishioners are encouraged to do the readings on Sundays.
Our Youth Ministry meets twice per month on a Friday for informal discussions, programs and fellowship. Young people are also encouraged to participate in the Sunday Services.
Children's Church & Sunday School:
This special ministry takes place during Service times in the Parish Hall and all the children together with their Christian Education Instructors join us for the Service during the time of
the Peace Greeting.
